GABA Raw Pu'er Tea Loose Tea

$26.75

We are the first supplier to bring GABA Pu’er to the U.S.! GABA enriched tea is associated with oolong, but we have sourced a singular producer who makes GABA Pu’er, an extremely rare tea which is hard to find even in Yunnan.

Made with tea leaves from Menghai harvested in spring 2024, the production of this tea involves a unique 6-hour anaerobic fermentation process, which gives the tea its characteristic aroma and flavor.  In result we got a tea which is perfect for those who apperciate the characteristic taste of GABA oolong tea shades, but are in search for a new and unique taste experience.

Unlike a standard sheng puer tea, the GABA sheng puer tea has a distinctive floral and fruity taste that is free of any tartness. The flavor is smooth and mellow, with hints of honey and vanilla that linger on the palate.

In the 1980s, tea growers in Japan developed special GABA-enriched/fortified teas, known simply as GABA teas, through an oxygen-free fermentation process. These enriched teas contain 800% as much GABA as a regular cup of oolong tea. Several studies tested GABA oolong teas, in particular, with an Australian study concluding that its consumption led to a significant decrease in the immediate stress score and a significant improvement in heart rate variability, concluding that “even a very small amount of GABA-fortified oolong tea leads to a significant effect on acute stress levels reflected by the improved HRV measures” (Hinton et al, 2019).

This tea has a lower caffeine level, less than half of a cup of coffee, which makes it a great choice for drinking late into the day.

Packaged in resealable 50g packet.
