Ripe Pu'er Tea Brick - 2008 Menghai Old Tree “7562” 250g

$22.50

This is a 2008 ripe compressed Pu'er tea brick from the famous Menghai Tea Factory, harvested from almost century-old trees and wrapped in bamboo leaf. "7562" is a classic Menghai recipe using larger tea leaves, and a clean and slightly sweet taste with hints of molasses (unlike some other ripe Pu’ers, this has no hint of smokiness). This brick measures approximately 5.5" x 3.5" and weighs 250 grams.

Menghai Tea Factory is the oldest tea factory in Yunnan and one of the most respected producers of Pu'er tea in the world.

Ripe Pu’er tea has higher levels of caffeine (similar to black tea) than raw Pu’er (which has very low levels of caffeine and higher levels of GABA).

Pu’er is a tea from China’s Yunnan province near the Laos and Myanmar border. High in antioxidants, studies show it can fight oxidative stress, promote weight loss, and regulate blood sugar. Pu’er tea also possesses anti-cancer properties. It has a lower caffeine level, less than coffee and green tea, which make it a great choice for drinking late into the day.

Pu’er has been called China’s best-kept secret for weight loss. Animal and test-tube studies show that it can help synthesize fewer new fats while burning more stored body fat. In one animal study, pu’er was also the only variety of tea capable of raising the level of good cholesterol and lowering the level of bad cholesterol.

Instructions:

  1. Remove wrapping
  2. Break off a small piece of tea from the edge of the tea brick using a Pu'er tea needle (we carry these in white and wood)
  3. Place your tea into a cup or tea pot, then pour near-boiling water over the tea. Allow the tea to steep for 1-3 minutes
  4. Enjoy

Note: You can repeat the above steps and brew several cups of tea from one piece of tea, or add more if you prefer a stronger cup
